Haven’t got the foggiest clue about fogging? Don’t worry, we’re here to explain…

Like the common cold, COVID-19 can be spread via droplets from coughing and sneezing. To quickly cover and protect areas from diseases and infections, we have introduced the latest decontamination fogging service.

What is it Decontamination Fogging?

It’s a technique that has been widely used in a number of sectors in recent years, including the food industry. The idea is to saturate pre-cleaned environments with disinfectant, killing airborne microorganisms and disinfecting hard to reach surfaces.

How does it work?

Decontamination fogging is the process of spraying a fog like mist, with sanitising solution, into the air. The solution then settles and disinfects all surfaces. The process is generally carried out for a minimum of 30 minutes per room (depending on the size) and an additional 60 minutes is required to allow for the disinfectant droplets to settle. Anti-bacterial fogging kills 99.99% of pathogens – including the Coronavirus, COVID-19.

Mobile fogging is to be completed by a trained professional, like ourselves here at TWS Contracts, who must wear full PPE equipment – including a sealed mask, ventilator, gloves and a chemical suit.

How well does it work?

Anti-bacterial fogging kills 99.99% of pathogens. However, numerous providers of fogging services fail to understand the importance of pre-cleaning an environment, prior to fogging.

The British Cleaning Council (BCC) recommends that fogging should be used as part of a wider disinfection practise. They suggest using fogging to prepare an area for deep cleaning, to increase the safety for a hands-on cleaning team. They then recommend fogging the area again after physical cleaning, to allow for thorough disinfection.

Chemical fogging is the most efficient and effective method for decontaminating whole rooms, as it allows for difficult to reach places to be thoroughly disinfected. If you’d like to learn more about the types of cleaning services we offer here at TWS Contracts, please feel free to contact us.
